OmniBus Systems and Omneon link up to serve converging TV/Internet markets

OMNIBUS SYSTEMS is to enter into a partnership with Omneon Video Networks that will see the company's advanced control software incorporated into Omneon's innovative networking and storage system, VIDEO AREA NETWORKä. Both companies are committing engineering and development resources to the partnership.

Omneon will be licensing Omnibus software development tools to make the VIDEO AREA NETWORK fully compatible with OmniBus applications deployed in many leading broadcast installations. "The scalability and innovation of the Omneon networking and storage solution fits well with OmniBus' distributed approach to control software," says OmniBus Systems chairman Glyn Powell-Evans. "It opens up significant opportunities for our customers, particularly to serve the rapidly-converging markets of television and the Internet." At IBC, Omneon Video Networks is demonstrating its VIDEO AREA NETWORK integrated with OmniBus' station automation system, Columbus, in multi-channel transmission application.

"The partnership with OmniBus opens up dynamic market opportunities for both companies," said Larry Kaplan, president and CEO of Omneon Video Networks. "OmniBus is a leader in control systems used by broadcasters worldwide and its control software will exploit the full potential of the Omneon system both in today's broadcast environment and with vast potential for new markets such as television over the Internet."
