INDIANAPOLIS --(May 26, 2000)-- ABC Sports will have the graphics gear to deliver a flawless broadcast: Duet, Aprisa and iNFiNiT! from Chyron Corporation. ABC Sports' production team kicked off use of the Chyron technology at the Indy 500 Time Trials. The dual channel Chyron Aprisa was used to facilitated seamless playback to air of the animated Indy 500 logo, both as lower thirds and live full-screen animations. In addition, the Chyron Duet was used to create up-to-the-minute leader boards and grids. The Indy 500 airs on the ABC Television Network Sunday, May 28th, from 11:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., ET.

"The combination of Chyron's Duet video platform, Aprisa 300, and iNFiNiT! character generator helps us achieve the goal of creating a new style for our Indy 500 graphics presentation," said Bob Toms, Director of Production for ABC Sports. "Due to the nature of auto racing, a lot of the graphics are presented very quickly. Not only do those graphics have to come to air fast, they have to be highly readable and obvious to the viewer."

"ABC Sports wanted to create a graphic look that had movement and constant animation. The combination of Chyron systems helps us playback high-end 3-D animation with integrated live statistical feeds," he continued. "We knew our foundation for most of it was going to be Chyron's iNFiNiT!. Integrating it with Duet gives us great flexibility and support, due to its ability to take graphics right off of iNFiNiT! disks."

A fully open-system platform, Duet merges Chyron components with WindowsNT for high reliability, performance and compatibility. Additionally, the Chyron video graphics engine (VGE), an object-oriented 2D/3D graphics processing system, brings a host of creative options.

The Chyron Aprisa 300 uses an open systems approach to provide broadcast quality, dual channel motion-JPEG video and audio in the Windows NT environment. With its easy-to-use Windows interface for efficient on-line operation, the Chyron Aprisa also features AutoQue, an intelligent communications module for automating and integrating itself with several external devices like the Chyron iNFiNiT! and other Aprisa systems.

The Chyron iNFiNiT! is a dual-channel, high-end graphics, character generator and animation workstation. iNFiNiT! offers two or three video channels with key, single or dual user, analog and digital output, 525 or 625 system operation and 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratios. The third channel output provides an independent program with key in addition to the standard two channels.
