Salt
Lake City -- March 13, 2000 -- Utah Scientific, Inc., formerly Utah
Comteck Video, today announced the acquisition of the UTAH-Series routing
switcher product line from Artel Video Systems, Inc. and the rights
to the Utah Scientific name.
NAB 1999 was the setting for the initial launch of Utah Comteck Video
(now Utah Scientific) with the acquisition of the analog products, including
the AVS-Series routers and the MC-500 Series master control switchers,
from Artel Video Systems. The purchase today rounded up the remainder
of the broadcast product lines including the digital and high-definition
UTAH-Series routing switchers. Utah Scientific has assumed all existing
warranties and customer service on the acquired product lines.
The reformation of Utah Scientific, Inc. will be headed up by Lyle O.
Keys as Honorary Chairman, Carmelo Catalano as Chairman of the Board,
and Earl Gray as Chief Executive Officer. As many broadcasters remember,
Lyle Keys and Earl Gray were the original founders of Utah Scientific
in 1978.
"We are coming back to restore the luster of the Utah Scientific
name, the distinction of the Utah Scientific products and the spirit
of the Utah Scientific people," explained Lyle Keys at a
company celebration following the announcement.
The major investor for this acquisition is Carmelo Catalano who will
act as Chairman of the Board for the new organization. As President
and CEO of the largest broadcast distribution company in Italy, Carmelo
has 20 years experience working with Utah Scientific people and products
and knows first-hand how the industry respects the Utah name.
"Lyle Keys, Earl Gray and I go back to the early days," stated
Mr. Catalano. "We take great pride in those early products
and are committed to the same high standards and the same integrity
that broadcasters have come to expect from the Utah name."
Future developments for new Utah Scientific products are already
underway. Visit the team at NAB in the Las Vegas Convention Center,
