March
13, 2000 (El Segundo, CA) --- Trakker Technologies announces that Slingshot
2.7 will be available for release by NAB 2000.
Slingshot 2.7 is an enhanced version of the award-winning Slingshot
product line of film finishing software that is currently available.
One of the features that will offset 2.7 from the previous version of
Slingshot (version 2.6) is the inclusion of Drop Frame support which
is necessary to support existing DV editing systems.
The previous versions of Slingshot have supported Analog based NLEs
such as Media 100, Discreet's edit*, Speed Razor, Fast's 601, Accom's
Stratasphere, and many more. With the addition of Drop Frame support,
Slingshot now completely supports DV-based video NLEs such as Apple's
Final Cut Pro, Digital Origin's EditDV, and many others.
In addition to the Drop Frame support, 2.7 has been tested and is fully
G4/MacOS9 compatible. Slingshot now supports all current PowerMac hardware
and operating systems. "What makes Slingshot 2.7 so exceptional is
its flexibility," states Barry Silver, President of Trakker
Technologies. "Now filmmakers will be able to choose from an even
greater variety of editing systems."

With 2.7, Trakker Technologies continues to improve support for the
Batch Capture Logs that Slingshot outputs. As new versions of NLEs hit
the market, Trakker continues its ongoing testing to ensure that all
logs remain compatible with supported third party systems.
Trakker also continues to test on an ongoing basis to make sure the
EDLs output by the various video NLEs can be seamlessly imported into
the Slingshot applications.
"Most NLEs do not conform to the published specifications of CMX
or GVG EDLs," explains Robert Mathieu, Director of Engineering,
"Therefore, we use a certain amount of 'fuzzy logic' to be able to read
the EDLs created by many of today's non-linear editing systems."
In addition, Mr. Mathieu states, "We strive to meet the ever-changing
environment in which our software works."
Trakker Technologies is committed to the advancement of the post-production
industry and all who are involved. Their products and services are geared
toward creating exceptional real-world solutions to real-world needs
at a price that people can afford.
