Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Evans & Sutherland With 1999 Product Line Strategy Award

SAN ANTONIO--(March 16, 2000)--Frost & Sullivan announced that it has awarded Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation its 1999 Market Engineering Product Line Strategy Award. E&S was selected for the award in recognition of the company's development and introduction of its Symphony line of products, a full range of compatible visual systems products for simulation--from workstation graphics technology to the most advanced image generator in the world.

A leader and innovator in visual simulation for more than 30 years, Evans & Sutherland's recent introduction of the Symphony line of products includes the high-end Harmony and the PC-based Ensemble, which together offer a complete line of high performance, compatible 3D graphics systems for simulation and training. Based on standard Intel architecture and E&S's innovative rendering technology, these new systems are at the top of the industry in quality and performance.

In 1999, Evans & Sutherland also introduced simFUSION, the first and only OpenGL, PC-based visual system to offer real simulation features for under $20,000 per channel. These recent product introductions secure Evans & Sutherland's position in visual simulation from the high end to the PC, uniquely positioning the company in the simulation industry.

"Evans & Sutherland has distinguished itself with its complete product line that meets the varying demands of visual simulation," said Frost & Sullivan market analyst Jerome Weltsch. "These new advanced systems will keep Evans & Sutherland among the leaders of the industry in quality and performance."

"Evans & Sutherland is honored to receive this recognition from Frost & Sullivan," said E&S CEO James Oyler. "Several years ago, we assessed our markets and determined that an overall product strategy like Symphony would enable us to meet our customers' needs well into the future. The development of the Symphony line of products has required a tremendous commitment in time and resources, but we are convinced that it will ensure our leadership position in visual simulation."
