Adds New Dimension to Effects Creation and Productivity; NEW Standard and Professional Versions

Boston, MA--(March 9, 2000)-- Boris FX, an industry leader in compositing and effects technology, announced the launch of Boris FX 5.0, the industry standard plug-in application which provides unique effect filters and a complete user interface for animation and layering. Integrated directly into a non-linear editing (NLE) system, Boris FX 5.0 adds a new breath to effects creation and increases productivity with a range of new features such as 3D text, Effects Library browser and keyframe enhancements. Available for the first time in both Standard and Professional versions, Boris FX 5.0 is the most comprehensive DVE and effects plug-in additions available for NLE systems.

Feature highlights in Boris FX 5.0 Standard include:

  • Allows the user to create true 3D text in their NLE with out going to a complex 3D application · Effects Library Browser. Makes it easier for the user to see and select pre-saved effect settings

Comprehensive effects creation capabilities include 3D shapes, curvilinear distortions, fast blurs, explosive particles, color correction and powerful keying. Professional results can be achieved quickly, using the Effects Library where personal touches and effects are re-saved for later use. Boris FX can access media directly from the NLE timeline without importing or exporting. Additional media such as Quicktime, Avi, PICT, TIFF and Targa files can also be used for adding more layers. Boris FX 5.0 will ship to customers March 31, 2000, through resellers world-wide. Available on Power Macintosh and Intel based Microsoft Windows 98/NT platforms, Boris FX 5.0 is priced at MSRP $495 USD for the Standard version and $995 USD for the Professional version. Boris FX customers can upgrade from their Boris FX 4.X software to 5.0 Standard version for $199 USD and $499 USD for the Professional version.
