Accom Ships 24P Scan Option for Axial 3000

Menlo Park, CA --(March 15, 2000)-- Accom, Inc. announced that it is now offering and shipping a 24 Frame Progressive Scan system option for its Axial 3000 On-Line Editing System. This enables production and post-production facilities to edit in High-Definition Television (HDTV) video formats for multi-standard mastering and Electronic Cinema. An Axial 3000 with 24P can control the edit process in the new 24 progressive frame-per-second (fps) format.

The significance of 24P is that this is the first time an electronic mastering format has been developed which is independent of the constraints of transmission formats. It is now possible to transfer film to HDTV in its native 24P format and go through the entire post-production process and end up with a universal finished master. There are two major benefits of this format, the content is preserved in electronic form at the highest possible quality level and it can be converted into all the relevant transmission formats with ease. Several of the high-end facilities in Hollywood have already upgraded their Axial 3000 editors to work with these new 24fps formats.

Bob Blanks, VP of Engineering for Complete Post in Los Angeles commented, "Hollywood has always had to deliver for the various markets domestically and internationally and has been required to support all of the various standards.

"With 1080p 24, we now have a universal format that can be converted seamlessly. We chose the Axial because it is the best and most flexible editing system available for linear and showcase editorial."

The Axial 3000 Visual On-Line Editing System has set the standard for overall post-production edit suite control by providing unrivaled processing power and system intelligence. Axial 3000 offers maximum performance for today's hybrid tape/disk non-linear on-line edit suite. Axial's superior device control, auto-caching, auto-assembly, slow motion effects and optional Visual Editing, RAVE and ShowCase features offer the creative editor unparalleled power and flexibility in the on-line environment.
