MARCH
1, 2000 CNN Interactive's award-winning allpolitics.com is using Virage
Interactive trade; services to enable users to search archived video
of presidential candidates' speeches for specific issues, it was announced
by Carin Dessauer, executive editor, Washington, D.C., election director,
CNN Interactive. Virage's video infrastructure enables viewers to locate
the televised speeches of presidential candidates quickly by any topic
or keyword.
Using a familiar search-engine style interface, the Campaign 2000 Video
Search Engine returns relevant video clips for viewers to watch from
a comprehensive archive of unedited C-SPAN footage that is growing over
the course of Election 2000. The Virage search capability enhances allpolitics.com's
already-robust video section, which includes candidates' key speeches
and television advertisements.
"allpolitics.com's in-depth political coverage is now bolstered by
Virage's video search capabilities that allow our users to quickly find
speeches and speech topics by the presidential candidates," said
Dessauer.
"We are pleased to be working with CNN Interactive on this project,"
said Carlos Montalvo, vice president of marketing at Virage.
"CNN has been a long-time Virage customer, using our video indexing
and search software as a core component of its state-of-the-art newsroom
production system. With CNN Interactive's adoption of the Campaign 2000
Video Search Engine, CNN extends this powerful video search capability
to its Internet community."
