Tustin,
CA (April 20, 2000)-Vicon, the leading developer of optical motion capture
systems was awarded the Television Broadcast Editor's Pick of Show Award
at NAB for the new M-Series
(MCam)
1000 X 1000 pixel resolution camera and its integration with Vicon 8's
Real-Time motion capture system. Vicon debuted the new MCam at NAB in
Las Vegas. The camera captures over three times the resolution of existing
camera technology used in motion capture-at 1,000,000 pixels, it offers
the highest resolution and fastest performance of any motion capture
camera available today. MCam is shipping with Vicon 8, the same motion
capture system used to capture motion for "Titanic", "The Mummy", "Star
Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace" and other top television, feature
film and video game productions.
"Camera resolution and frame rate have a significant impact on the
system's ability to capture fine nuances of slow and fast motion. We
searched the world for a camera that would produce the next level of
quality demanded by our customers, but in the end developed and produced
the MCam entirely in-house. The MCams, integrated with the Vicon 8 Real
Time motion capture system, are uniquely suited for the large volumes
and motion accuracy that our market demands." Said Brian Nilles,
CEO, Vicon USA. "It was very exciting to see the reaction of existing
and potential Vicon customers to the performance of the MCam. It was
an equally exciting validation of our new technology to win this award
from Television Broadcast's editors from the thousands of products introduced
on the NAB show floor this year."

Television Broadcast's Editors' Pick of Show is chosen by the magazines
Pick of Show staff and NAB contributing editors, led by editor Michael
Grotticelli. Only professionals in the field served by a product or
technology can vote for a product or technology to be a Pick of Show.
To be a Pick of Show winner, editors must unanimously agree on a product
or technology. This year, there were a total of 26 Pick of Show "judges"
representing all areas of expertise in television broadcasting. Vicon's
MCam was the only motion capture technology product that was selected
among the 55 products awarded this prize.
