MW-S1200 Previewed at NAB

Las Vegas, NV (NAB, April 10-13, 2000) -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY introduces the latest "Timegate" Non-Linear editor family member, the new MW-S1200.

JVC's first non-linear editing system, the MW-S1000 TimeGate, was well-accepted in the industry due to its real time operability, high picture performance and all-in-one concept, similar to a VTR. With Timegate, JVC addresses a wide range of editing needs from broadcasters, corporate producers, production houses, and event videographers.

Based on this experience, JVC is expanding its TimeGate lineup with the MW-S1200. The MW-S1200 uses WINDOWS NT 4.0 with a Pentium-III 450-700Mhz CPU, and was developed in cooperation with industry leaders Matrox, Pinnacle systems and Inscriber.

The compression in the MW-S1200 is Motion-JPEG, and ranges from lossless to 30:1. It employs Wide LVD (Low Voltage Differential) SCSI interface and comes with 128MB of memory included.

The MW-S1200 will implement TimeGate Version 2.5 software, now under final beta testing. Version 2.5 will also be available for JVC's MW-S1000. New capabilities made possible with the Version 2.5 software include 16:9 capability, audio level metering, 3D borders, optional Inscriber CG Title motion and improved GUI for easier operation.

The MW-S1200 and MW-S1000 editing systems both support uncompressed digital transfers through an industry standard Serial Digital Interface (SDI). Furthermore, JVC is continuing development of its Timegate product line, and has announced that it is developing an SDTI interface, suitable for compressed digital transfers with future SDTI VTRs such as the BR-D95 Component Digital D-9 VTR.

JVC, as a complete audio and video equipment manufacturer, offers an entire production suite, including D-9 50 Mbps 4:2:2 component digital and PROFESSIONAL DV camcorders, D-9 and PROFESSIONAL DV recorders, the TimeGate non-linear editing system, monitors and projection displays.
