Low-Resolution
Browsing, Marking, Scalable Recording Automation, Asset Management Key
Offerings
NAB 2000, Las Vegas, NV - April 10, 2000 - Keops Broadcast, a premier
supplier of asset management tools for broadcast applications, announced
that its MediaWorks asset management system is compatible with the Panasonic
DNA (DVCPRO News Automation) turnkey, digital video server system for
news post-production, storage and multi-channel playback to air. MediaWorks
offers purchasers of the Panasonic DNA system low-resolution, proxy
browsing and marking, scalable recording automation and asset management
capabilities.
Tore Nordahl, Vice President of Product Development & Engineering, Panasonic
Broadcast, said, "The MediaWorks browser is a powerful option for DNA,
with browsing being the one missing link in today's TV station news
operation. We have worked with Keops Broadcast to develop a user-friendly
interface with MediaWorks."
"Panasonic DNA is championing the way for high-quality, highly efficient
video production within the digital TV news facility," said Keops Broadcast
President, Dominique Ste-Marie. "We are delighted that MediaWorks is
an integral part of the Panasonic new room solution."
One of MediaWorks' key components within DNA is desktop or low-resolution
browsing which allows journalists to randomly view on their PCs video
images associated with the stories they are working on. The low-resolution
images are highly compressed, low-bandwidth proxies of the full-resolution
broadcast images that reside on the DNA server. All low- and high-resolution
material is tied to MediaWorks in DNA automation/server control system.
MediaWorks is Keops Broadcast's complete environment for managing broadcast-quality
digital assets. Typical applications include corporate assets repository,
sports and news media system, personal browsing system, offline pre-editing,
post-production proofing, subtitling and audio post-sync and broadcast
monitoring.
MediaWorks allows any LAN-based PC workstation to browse and mark digital
assets under configuration using a frame-accurate, low-resolution proxy
while preserving the integrity of the high-resolution broadcast originals.
DNA is Panasonic Broadcast's end-to-end DVCPRO solution, offering the
benefits of the world's most popular professional digital recording
format, DVCPRO, in a powerful central server system. DVCPRO, with more
than 100,000 units in use worldwide, has become the standard for cost-effective
digital acquisition and recording. With DNA, DVCPRO processing easily
and transparently integrates into news production environments to complete
the digital news production and delivery.
