G-SAM, the world's first global trade association dedicated to accelerating the adoption of asset management technologies, has announced that it has surpassed its sponsorship goals and will be expanding from its original location to the much larger convention facilities at the New York Hilton. The agreement is part of a freshly inked alliance with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), said G-SAM founder and executive director Richard Eberhart.

G-SAM 2003 will now be co-located with the SMPTE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition as its official pre-show. G-SAM 2003 will run from November 10-11, while the SMPTE show will continue from November 12-15 at the same location. There will be a joint mixer for attendees of both show on November 11.

"This is a very logical partnership that creates a win-win for both groups," said Frederick C. Motts, executive director of SMPTE. "We are pleased to kick off a week of world-class activities in the field of broadcast engineering with G-SAM's two-day conference on Digital Asset Management, which is a key issue in how broadcast content will be catalogued, archived and managed."

As previously announced, G-SAM 2003 will feature tracks on DAM Technology and Standards, Gaining User Acceptance, Intellectual Property Rights Management, Metadata Standards, and Managing Expectations and Growth. It will also feature keynote speeches from industry icons Gavin Schutz, president of SMPTE and CTO of Ascent Media Group, and Dennis Pannuto, CIO of BBDO Worldwide.

G-SAM 2003 is unique in that its agenda was formed by actual users from multiple industries from the ground up. Member companies of this committee included ABC, BBDO, Harley Davidson, HBO, Technicolor, a division of Thomson, and several others.

The conference will take place at the Hilton Hotel, New York City, on Monday and Tuesday, November 10-11, 2003. The conference is being co-produced by the Entertainment Technology Alliance (ETA), a leading worldwide conference and event organizer in the digital convergence sectors. It is also co-located with this year's SMPTE conference.

All sponsors, exhibitors and speakers are members of G-SAM. Sponsors includes Avid Technologies, IBM, Ascent Media, Artesia Technologies, ADAM Systems Group, BBC Technologies, RightsLine, Silicon Graphics, Sony and WAM!NET, a division of SAVVIS Communications. Full early bird conference participation will be $395 for G-SAM members, $895 for non-members.
