Adobe After Effects 6.0 Page 7 of 7 “So what goes on behind the scene? What isn’t on top? What isn’t so obvious?” you ask. Speed improvements abound. Adobe has really gone through AE6.0 and made sure that it runs much faster. You have probably noticed that I have mentioned Photoshop a lot in this review. It isn’t just Photoshop that After Effects is more compatible with. Adobe continues to improve the compatibility and workflow between all of its products including the new Premiere Pro, Audition, and Encore (all Windows-only). [an error occurred while processing this directive]I know that last bit is scary, but for now Adobe is still supporting After Effects on the Mac. For more on the Adobe/Apple issue, be sure to read Charlie White’s interview with Adobe elsewhere on the DMN sites. There are so many other new features present in After Effects 6.0, that your head may start spinning. By the time After Effects 6.0 is released in August, DMN will have a number of new tutorials ready for you to jump right into using this powerful new application. Bottom line While those who are uber-proficient in using After Effects will find slight flaws with the new version, for others it looks like Adobe can do no wrong when it comes to their heavy-hitter application. This is a must-have upgrade. If you are an After Effects Standard Bundle user, upgrade to the Production Bundle. It will only cost you $499. One job will pay for the upgrade. For those of you with AE 5.5 Pro, upgrading will cost you a scant $299. Whether you are working in the compositing, motion graphics, or animation industry, After Effects 6.0 will be a great asset to your ability to crank out high quality work and put a smile on not only your face, but that of your client as well.
