Episode 6: Holograms Page 12 of 14 So far so good, but our hologram is still in color. With the Hologram layer selected, apply the Hue/Saturation effect and colorize the layer so it is a nice blue. A Colorize Hue value of 220 works pretty well. ![]() ![]() Next adjust your levels so the range is at it’s best. This should "sharpen" the the subject and make it stand out more. ![]() [an error occurred while processing this directive] Follow that with the Brightness/Contrast effect and increase the contrast almost to the extreme. You don’t want to increase it so the layer devolves to dark or light, but you want to add just enough contrast to make the brightest areas "pop" and the darkest areas to blend in together. A setting of 50 did it nicely for this example. ![]() This looks really good as is, but if you want to take it a step further, use the Glow effect to add a rim of blue ether to your hologram. ![]() Remember that these settings should be played around with, different shots will require different set ups, and perhaps certain characters in your production will not warrant such harsh settings.
