New Orleans, Louisiana
-(Jan. 24, 2001 ) -- Turbo Squid Corporation, the world's fastest growing
digital asset marketplace, announced an agreement with Genetic Graphics
Inc. to offer the entire ShaderBank collection of 4,500 RenderMan shaders
on Turbo Squid. Effective immediately, the entire ShaderBank collection
including: alien skins, fur, space, rock, cloud, water, wood, glass,
metal and cartoon shaders is available on the Turbo Squid system. As
a special bonus to Turbo Squid users without RenderMan, each shader
is also available as a JPEG image. This allows RenderMan quality textures
to be used by products without direct RenderMan support.
"Characteristically,
building photo-realistic RenderMan shaders is a time consuming and expensive
process," said David Avgikos, President and CEO of Turbo
Squid. "The ShaderBank collection will allow film and video animators
to shave hours, if not days, off of their project. Priced at less than
$10 per shader, these shaders are a creative no-brainer. We are thrilled
with the quality and quantity of the collection."
Many feature films, including Star Wars, Toy Story, Jumanji, Jurassic
Park and The Matrix were rendered with RenderMan because of its power,
flexibility and versatility.
"Turbo Squid is a fantastic solution," Dr. Al Abraham,
President and CEO of Genetic Graphics Inc. added, "It provides digital
artists with a state-of-the-art digital market that is endorsed by major
industry players. We are very impressed with Turbo Squid and can't think
of a better digital market for ShaderBank collections. We are confident
that this relationship will enable digital artists to produce high-end
imagery on time and at a very low cost that fits almost every budget."
Using the Turbo Squid software, which is available free at the company's
web site, users can tap into the world's largest single repository of
3D and graphic elements including: 3D models, texture maps, motion capture
files, images, shaders and sound files.
